About The Cabana9 Nerd
I was born in San Francisco sometime in the 70s 🙂 and grew up in the Mission, Daly City and Pacifica. I love the Bay Area. I can’t imagine living anywhere else in the world! I’ve only been out of California several times, but I still have not found a place not in the City where I can definitely say I can live there.
The Oakland Raiders are my favorite Sports team. But I am a fan of all of the Bay Area teams. I’ll get a lot of flack for this, but I I actually pull for the Forty Niners when they play. But I guess that is understandable since the Niners are always on TV while the Raiders are almost always blacked out! 🙂 The only time I do not pull for them is when they are playing the Raiders.
I celebrated with the rest of San Francisco when the Giants proved everyone wrong and won the World Series! And I also celebrated as a kid when the A’s were winning Championships in the 70’s and 80’s!
Unfortunately, those days are few and far between for our sports teams. Other than the G-men, all of the other teams suck! That’s okay though. I’ll be pulling for the football teams whether they are 16 – 0 or 0 – 16! And the Giants and A’s whether they are World Series Champs or last place in the Division. Hell, The Golden State Warriors have been sorry since the mid 90’s. Other than the “We Believe” season a few years ago, they have been a perennial Lottery team every year.
Anyway, more about me! 🙂 I work for a UC Campus here in the Bay Area. I’m in the Information Technology field and have been in the field for the last 14 years. My job is basically optimizing technical infrastructures so employees can work efficiently and stay connected no matter where they are at in the world. If I am successful in doing that, it makes the job of my team and me easier in the long run! I feel a great sense of pride and joy when someone compliments my team’s work.
Although I love what I do, it can be a stressful and demanding profession. That’s why I am creating this blog to create a balance in my life. Hopefully it will relieve some of that stress that can be overwhelming professionally as well as personally. I’m planning on it releasing the tension that comes from that grind we go through on the daily!
