About The Cabana9 Nerd
I was born in San Francisco sometime in the 70s 🙂 and grew up in the Mission, Daly City and Pacifica. I love the Bay Area. I can’t imagine living anywhere else in the world! I’ve only been out of California several times, but I still have not found a place not in the City where I can definitely say I can live there.
The Oakland Raiders are my favorite Sports team. But I am a fan of all of the Bay Area teams. I’ll get a lot of flack for this, but I actually pull for the Forty Niners when they play. But I guess that is understandable since the Niners are always on TV while the Raiders are almost always blacked out! 🙂 The only time I do not pull for them is when they are playing the Raiders.
I celebrated with the rest of San Francisco when the Giants proved everyone wrong and won the World Series! And I also celebrated as a kid when the A’s were winning Championships in the 70’s and 80’s!
Unfortunately, those days are few and far between for our sports teams. Other than the G-men, all of the other teams suck! That’s okay though. I’ll be pulling for the football teams whether they are 16 – 0 or 0 – 16! And the Giants and A’s whether they are World Series Champs or last place in the Division. Hell, The Golden State Warriors have been sorry since the mid 90’s. Other than the “We Believe” season a few years ago, they have been a perennial Lottery team every year.
Anyway, more about me! 🙂 I work for a UC Campus here in the Bay Area. I’m in the Information Technology field and have been in the field for the last 14 years. My job is basically optimizing technical infrastructures so employees can work efficiently and stay connected no matter where they are in the world. If I am successful in doing that, it makes the job of my team and me easier in the long run! I feel a great sense of pride and joy when someone compliments my team’s work.
Although I love what I do, it can be a stressful and demanding profession. That’s why I am creating this blog to create a balance in my life. Hopefully it will relieve some of that stress that can be overwhelming professionally as well as personally. I’m planning on it releasing the tension that comes from that grind we go through on the daily!
About the Cabana9 Name
I’m sure it’ll come up and it’s not a big story, but to answer the inevitable question: What is Cabana9?
Well it all started when a group of friends and family went on a trip to my second favorite area in the US, Las Vegas, NV. Now there is no “Hang Over” story and we didn’t steal Mike Tyson’s tiger or kidnap an Asian dude, strip him and stuff him in to the trunk. It was just a great time spent with great friends. One of the places we ended up at was a Cabana at one of the nightclubs. It so happened to be Cabana #9. Ever since then, Cabana9 is a reference point for me. When I was looking for a Gamer Tag for my Xbox360, I didn’t want to use my real name (Who wants to have your real name listed when you play an online game?). So Cabana9 it became. The name stuck. So there you have it!
About the Cabana9 Nerd Blog
The website is called the Cabana9 Nerd Blog. One might think it will contain articles and posts about the latest technical gadget, computer, and video game. Although I will post about some of those things, this blog will contain much more than that. I’ll also post about Sports, Entertainment, Gossip, Business, and whatever is on my mind. And for anything I find cool, I’ve created a section for just that too. I’m sure I’ll have enough content to please everybody.
There is a “Featured Youtube Video” section on the site and I will post videos I either find hella funny or I just think are cool.
The blog is a work in progress. Make suggestions and let me know what you think by posting a comment or send me a message via the Contact Me link at the top of the page. I haven’t been updating my Twitter or Facebook accounts, but I check them often so links to those sites and the RSS feed are on on the right. Hopefully over time, my grammar will improve. I haven’t really written anything other than emails in a long long long time!
Thank you for taking the time and visit my blog and read through my articles, look through the pictures, or watch the featured videos! I hope you enjoy the Site!
